MediaCityUK communities raise £1200 for Huntington’s Disease Charity

Across a week of charity events, our wonderful communities over at MediaCityUK took part in raising money and awareness for a special cause.
Charity events happen frequently across urbanbubble communities, where residents and staff come together to raise money for a chosen cause. Just recently urbanbubble has seen so much work done for charities in local areas, from toy and food banks at Christmas for those affected by homelessness, cooking classes with vulnerable young people, volunteering days with charities fighting poverty and much more.
The fundraiser at MediaCityUK saw a week long string of events to help raise money for an important cause, with the team choosing the Huntington’s Disease Charity to raise awareness for a rarely spoken about disease that also affected a family member of a contractor who is a familiar and friendly face at High Definition.
The teams in MediaCityUK, across The Heart, Lightbox, Number One and High Definition, ran a week long collaboration of events. Beginning on Tuesday, the first event was a raffle that had prizes from local businesses around MediaCityUK. Wednesday saw a Quiz night with Pizza and on Thursday there was an Odd Sock Day and Bake Sale! The charity events didn’t end there though, on Friday there was a 12 hour long darts marathon. The athleticism continued with a 5-a-side football tournament out on the communal pitch and a 5K run on the Sunday.
They smashed their initial target of £500, raising a grand total of £1200 for the Huntington’s Disease Charity. Kerry Burge, the Community Manager at the MediaCityUK sites, said “We are so pleased with the outcome of the week. We are trying to raise awareness of a disease that is not spoken about enough and can affect someone close to you. We value our charity work very closely at urbanbubble, so we are grateful for everyone’s involvement and the week’s success!”
