Bubbling Talent across the UK: Fostering Hard Work and Social Value
urbanbubble’s head office might be in the heart of the Northern Quarter in Manchester City Centre, but the body and soul of the business lies within the amazing teams that are spread nationwide across the wonderful communities we have the pleasure of managing.
Our people are at the forefront of all our success thanks to their hard work and passion, and we just can’t stay quiet about it!
Take the team at Wood Street House, a Build to Rent development in the centre of Cardiff. Despite its obvious benefits of the close transport links, kitted-out amenities and outstanding views across the Welsh capital, that would mean nothing without the urbanbubble team that brings the site to life, and that sentiment extends throughout everyone who works there.
For example, Mohammed ‘Mo’ Hassan, the daytime Front of House, is a resident favourite over at Wood Street. Not only is his laidback Welsh charm a welcoming vibe, he goes above and beyond every single day. During the internal HERO Awards, Mo took home the winners award for being the most ‘Hardworking’ and he has also been nominated for the Resident Team Member of the Year at the HomeViews Awards this month… that’s a big one!
Moving east across to Bristol, Box Makers Yard sits proudly by the River Avon, and inside are not only happy residents but a hardworking and talented team. There’s an aspect that sets the community apart however that no other site is doing. On top of the attentive and caring team, they have a beehive on the roof, and from this they are making their own honey, putting it into jars, and giving it to the residents. This is one of the most unique ways of giving back to the community we’ve seen across urbanbubble sites, and it’s most certainly been a hit. The initiative the team shows constantly is an example of how talented our urbanbubble people are.
Let’s take it over to the capital city, London, and focus on Blackhorse Mills. Holly Rodgers, the General Manager over at the community, gave back to the area around the site by visiting a local secondary school, where she helped Year 11’s with mock interviews as part of their curriculum.
She shared insights into her personal career journey and provided a glimpse into her roles within urbanbubble. It was a unique chance to discuss the various paths that led Holly to where she is today and offer advice on how the students can navigate their own futures in the world of work or further education.
“The students’ enthusiasm and motivation were truly inspiring. It was clear that these young people have bright futures ahead of them, and it was rewarding for our team to offer constructive feedback that could help them in their job search and educational pursuits. Giving back to the community in this way is a fundamental part of Blackhorse Mills’ mission—not only to create high-quality and affordable homes but also to contribute positively to the local area and help foster the next generation of professionals.”
Heading back up North to Manchester where most of our communities are, there’s still nothing short of amazing. Viadux is a residential community, which differs slightly from Built to Rent in that it is a leasehold-based site, however, the team there are reinventing the residential property game with their many events and local partnerships with SMEs to enrich the resident’s experience. In essence, they are giving back to the surrounding area, otherwise known as placemaking.
For instance,e Cerys Scarlett-Swift, the Community Manager at Viadux, used her commercial background to secure a hefty partnership with Manchester Gin and local bar & distillery Three Little Words. From this, not only do the residents now have monthly events there, they also have room service access to get drinks delivered to their room, and even get it on move-in! Now that’s what we’d call living!
But it’s not only across communities that this talent exists, in our Head Office, there’s so many people keeping the cogs turning behind the scenes and bringing value to their teams and the wider area. Recently, Office Coordinator Kate Planeta organised charity events and volunteering days, with the most recent being two separate volunteering days at Caritas a local homeless charity) as well as Manchester Dogs Home. Kate said “It has been great continually organising events for the office! I had the chance to take part in the volunteering day at the dogs home. I am glad we have always had the opportunity to help a wide range of those in need, in this case, both people and animals.”
And all of this will continue to happen up and down the country across our sites because that’s the urbanbubble way.
